I am an assistant professor of biological sciences at Tarleton State University, Texas, where I teach courses in aquatic ecology. Within the research discipline of paleolimnology, I use diatom algae preserved in lake sediment to reconstruct how a lake and its watershed have changed over time. This picture is from my Master's work on Lake Superior. I love that when researching a lake, I get to work in the field and the lab to learn about its history and produce knowledge that can be used in the present to help conserve the lake for the future.
