My name is Lacie and I am a Geologist working in the oil field as the Quality Control Manager.
I work both on the oil rigs and in our office making sure that the mud logs that are produced are accurate and reflect the lithology being drilled. I am the voice between the engineers or office geologists and our people in the field. From explaining the rocks to a trainee to explaining the same rocks to a CEO my days are filled with geology in the form of sedimentary rocks and solving problems.
This is my third year joining Science-A-Thon to help promote science and women in STEM.
Often times I am the only female working on locations and have loved and hated it at times. The oil field can sometimes be an old boys club especially on locations but more and more women are starting to find their places out here and I love being a part of that.
