My friend took this photo during some field work in the Uinta Basin, UT where we participated in a measurement campaign to figure out how much methane and other gases were being emitted from oil and gas wells there. I received my PhD in atmospheric science from the University of Wyoming doing similar research all over the US, and now I work for the state of Utah's department of environmental quality. My job includes fieldwork, computer modeling and lots of data analysis, all with the aim of improving air quality in Utah. I'm participating in Science-A-Thon because there are a bunch of different ways to be a successful and impactful scientists, and it's fun to share how great science is!
