Amy Burgin, Associate Professor and Associate Scientist, University of Kansas and Kansas Biological Survey, surveying the South Fork of Kings Creek at Konza Prairie (Kansas, USA) where she works with a team of scientists - including microbiologists, hydrologists, and biogeochemists - to understand how stream intermittency (periods of no-flow) affects water quality. Amy participates in Science-A-Thon to help encourage others, especially undergraduates, to consider careers in science by showing them behind-the-scenes activities and share mentoring advice.
